🌊 3-Day Lisbon Itinerary
Seven hills, pastéis de nata, and fado
Your 3-Day Lisbon Plan
Three days in Lisbon covers the essential historic neighbourhoods, Belém's monuments, and a taste of the city's extraordinary food culture. Stay in Chiado or Alfama to be within walking distance of the highlights.
Day 1
Alfama and Fado Night
Alfama is Lisbon's oldest and most atmospheric neighbourhood — climb to São Jorge Castle for panoramic views over the terracotta rooftops and the river, then wind down through the steep lanes to the Portas do Sol viewpoint. Evening in a Fado house in Alfama: a meal with live traditional music is an essential Lisbon experience, book in advance.
Day 2
Belém's Maritime Legacy
The Torre de Belém and the Jerónimos Monastery sit 15 minutes apart along the Tagus waterfront — both are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and both are best visited before 10am. The monastery's Manueline Gothic architecture (intricate stone carved to resemble ropes, coral, and armillary spheres) is extraordinary. Stop at the Antiga Confeitaria de Belém next door for the original pastel de nata.
Day 3
LX Factory and Tram 28
The LX Factory — a reinvented industrial complex in Alcântara — is best on Sunday when the market runs, but the restaurants, bookshop, and rooftop bar make it worth visiting any day. Take Tram 28 at least one stop for the experience of the historic tram clambering uphill through Alfama (go early or late to avoid the worst crowds).
