Your 5-Day Amsterdam Plan
Five days gives you Amsterdam comprehensively — both major art museums, the canal belt, the best neighbourhoods, and two day trips to experience the wider Dutch landscape of windmills, tulip fields, and historic cities.
Day 1
Rijksmuseum and Vondelpark
Rijksmuseum morning, Vondelpark afternoon, Leidseplein evening drinks.
Day 2
Anne Frank House and Jordaan
Anne Frank House, Jordaan, Nine Streets, canal boat tour, brown café evening.
Day 3
Keukenhof Gardens
Keukenhof in April–May is a full-day experience — 70 hectares of tulip fields, formal gardens, and flower shows. Out of season, substitute Zaanse Schans windmill village or the historic city of Haarlem (20 minutes by train).
Day 4
Delft or Haarlem Day Trip
Delft (45 minutes by train) is the home of Delftware ceramics and Vermeer — the historic centre with its canals and medieval churches is almost completely unchanged since the Golden Age. Or Haarlem for its Frans Hals Museum and the beautiful Grote Kerk. Both make excellent half-day or full-day trips.
Day 5
Van Gogh Museum and De Pijp
Van Gogh Museum in the morning, Albert Cuyp Market at noon, De Pijp neighbourhood for lunch and an afternoon café crawl. Farewell dinner in the Oud-Zuid neighbourhood.
