🕌 7-Day Istanbul Itinerary
Where two continents meet
Your 7-Day Istanbul Plan
A full week in Istanbul means you can explore both sides of the Bosphorus deeply, visit the extraordinary Chora Church mosaics, and discover the creative neighbourhoods of Balat and Fener that few tourists reach.
Day 1
Hagia Sophia and Sultanahmet
Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, evening in Beyoğlu.
Day 2
Topkapi and Grand Bazaar
Topkapi Palace with Harem, Grand Bazaar, Spice Bazaar.
Day 3
Galata and Istiklal
Galata Tower, Istiklal Avenue, Bosphorus ferry.
Day 4
Dolmabahçe and Bosphorus Shore
Dolmabahçe Palace, Bebek waterfront café, Ortaköy street food under the bridge.
Day 5
Princes' Islands
Ferry to Büyükada, horse-drawn carriages, beaches, fish lunch, return by evening.
Day 6
Asian Side — Kadıköy and Üsküdar
The ferry to Kadıköy costs almost nothing and takes you to a completely different Istanbul — the Asian side's Kadıköy market is the city's best food market, and Moda neighbourhood along the sea is where Istanbul's young creative class lives. Üsküdar for the atmospheric Mihrimah Sultan Mosque.
Day 7
Chora Church and Balat
The Kariye Mosque (formerly Chora Church) contains the world's finest Byzantine mosaics — the 14th-century scenes from the life of Christ are extraordinarily preserved. Walk down through Balat and Fener, the Jewish and Greek Orthodox neighbourhoods: colourful crumbling houses, the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and some of Istanbul's most photogenic streets.
