Johor Bahru Day Trip (Malaysia)
Cross the Causeway to Johor Bahru in Malaysia — a 30-minute bus ride from Kranji MRT or Queen Street terminal. The Johor Bahru Old Chinese Temple, the Dataran Bandaraya waterfront, and JBCC mall are all interesting, but the main draw is the food: Johor laksa, cendol, and seafood at a fraction of Singapore prices.
- Day7
Night Safari and Clarke Quay Farewell
Singapore's Night Safari is the world's best nocturnal wildlife experience — the tram ride through near-dark enclosures passes Malayan tigers, Asian elephants, and giant flying squirrels. Book the 7:30pm tram for the best experience. Farewell dinner at Clarke Quay or a final hawker centre.
Tips for your Singapore trip
- Get an EZ-Link card or use contactless payment on the MRT and buses — Singapore's public transit is excellent, air-conditioned, and covers every major attraction; taxis and Grab are cheap but the MRT is faster for most journeys.
- Eat at hawker centres rather than restaurants for the best food experiences: Maxwell Food Centre, Lau Pa Sat, and Tiong Bahru Market are the most famous, but any neighbourhood hawker centre will have extraordinary food at S$4–8 per dish.
- The Gardens by the Bay light show (Spectra at Marina Bay Sands) runs nightly and is free to watch from the waterfront — arrive 15 minutes early for a spot at the barrier; the Supertree Grove light show at 7:45pm and 8:45pm is also free.
- Singapore is almost entirely safe and effortlessly navigable — but respect the strict laws around littering, jaywalking, and chewing gum in the MRT; fines are real and enforced.
