Your 3-Day Barcelona Plan
Three days in Barcelona covers the Gaudí masterpieces, the Gothic Quarter, and the beach — the city's essential DNA. Stay in the Eixample or Gothic Quarter to walk everywhere and keep metro time to a minimum.
Day 1
Sagrada Família and Eixample
Sagrada Família is best with a pre-booked tower ticket — the Nativity Tower gives you Gaudí's organic stonework up close, and the interior is extraordinary in morning light streaming through the stained glass. Walk west through the Eixample to Casa Batlló on the Passeig de Gràcia (the block between Casa Batlló, Casa Amatller, and Casa Lleó Morera is called the 'Block of Discord' — all built within years of each other by rival architects).
Day 2
Park Güell and Gothic Quarter
Park Güell requires timed-entry tickets for the monumental zone — the mosaic terrace and gingerbread gatehouses are stunning, but allow time to explore the forested upper paths where you can walk without a ticket and get views back over Barcelona to the sea. Afternoon in the Gothic Quarter: the Barcelona Cathedral (free before 12:30pm), the hidden Plaça de Sant Felip Neri, and the Roman ruins visible through glass floors in the Gothic Quarter history museum.
Day 3
Barceloneta and La Boqueria
Morning at La Boqueria market on La Rambla — go early (before 10am) for the local experience before the tourist hordes arrive; the fruit stands and seafood counters at the back are the best. Walk down La Rambla to the Columbus Monument, then along the waterfront to Barceloneta beach for the afternoon. End the trip with a sunset and paella at a beachfront restaurant.
