Your 3-Day Santorini Plan

Three days is the ideal length for Santorini — enough to experience the caldera views, the most dramatic beaches, and the famous sunset without rushing, and without overstaying a destination that rewards slow mornings and long lunches.

Day 1
Fira, Caldera Walk, Sunset Dinner
Arrive and walk the caldera path from Fira to Imerovigli — a 4km cliff-edge trail with constantly shifting views of the volcanic bay. Imerovigli is quieter than Oia and has equally extraordinary caldera views. Reserve a restaurant table in advance for a sunset dinner with caldera views — the light at 8pm in summer is extraordinary.
Day 2
Oia Blue Domes and Sunset
Take the bus or hire an ATV to Oia in the morning — the Blue Dome churches and clifftop architecture are best photographed in the clear morning light before the crowds arrive. Explore the narrow lanes and browse the local art galleries. Position yourself for the sunset (arrive 90 minutes early for the famous viewpoint at the castle ruins) — or take a sunset catamaran cruise for a view from the water.
Day 3
Akrotiri and Wine Tasting in Pyrgos
Morning at the Akrotiri archaeological site — the preserved Minoan city beneath the ash is extraordinary and rarely crowded. Walk down to the Red Beach afterwards, a dramatic cove beneath blood-red volcanic cliffs. Afternoon in Pyrgos, the island's highest village, for wine tasting at one of the caldera-view wineries — Santo Wines has the best terrace views.
