Your 7-day Santorini itinerary, day by day
- Day1
Fira and Caldera Walk
Caldera path to Imerovigli, sunset dinner on the cliff edge.
- Day2
Oia: Blue Domes and Sunset
Morning photography, cliff-top lanes, famous sunset viewpoint at the castle.
- Day3
Akrotiri and Red Beach
Minoan ruins, Red Beach volcanic cove, Pyrgos wine tasting.
- Day4
Sunset Catamaran Cruise
Half-day catamaran: volcanic hot springs swim, snorkelling, sunset on the water.
- Day5
Pyrgos Wine Tour and Ancient Thira
Multiple winery tastings in Pyrgos and the caldera rim. Afternoon visit to the Ancient Thira hilltop ruins.
- Day6
Thirassia Island Day Trip
Take the ferry to Thirassia, the small uninhabited island across the caldera from Santorini — a handful of tavernas, no crowds, and views back toward the Santorini cliffs that you cannot get from the island itself. The village of Manolas clings to the caldera rim.
- Day7
Perissa Beach and Farewell
A final relaxed morning on Perissa's black volcanic sand beach. Last lunch at a local taverna. Farewell sunset from the caldera edge — by now you will have a favourite spot.
Tips for your Santorini trip
- The famous Oia sunset draws enormous crowds — arrive 90 minutes early to claim a position, or better still, watch it from the less-crowded Imerovigli or from a sunset catamaran cruise on the caldera.
- ATVs are the most popular way to get around the island but have a genuinely poor safety record — consider a rental car instead, which is only marginally more expensive and significantly safer on the steep, narrow roads.
- Book accommodation on the caldera edge (Fira, Oia, Imerovigli) well in advance — the clifftop hotels with caldera views sell out months ahead in summer, and prices fall sharply for hotels just one street back.
- Visit Akrotiri archaeological site in the morning when it opens (8:30am) before the heat builds — it is one of the best-preserved Bronze Age settlements in the world and astonishingly undervisited compared to the island's other sights.
